Exciting Finale for State Finalists

By Kay Davis

A memorable week was enjoyed by all 11 Queensland Country Life Miss Show Girl state finalists at the Ekka.  Their extensive itinerary included a schedule of interviews, tours, lunches and numerous show duties together with a visit to Government House, Parliament House and afternoon tea with the Governor of Queensland, Penelope Wensley.   These 11 lovely young women were selected to represent their sub-chamber after winning at their own local shows and then advanced to the Brisbane RNA for the final stage of the state judging.  This year the Queensland Miss Showgirl competition celebrates 30 years since its inception in 1983 and is a valuable asset to the agricultural show movement.  The girls gain confidence and lifelong friendships throughout the quest and develop an understanding of the community involvement into their local shows.

The 2012 Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl is Miss Jessica Robinson of Childers, Runner-up is Miss Kate Pickels of Clermont and Miss Personality is Miss  Bianca McMahon of Cairns.
